چکیده

Aims: To compare the outcome after flexible ureteroscopic (FURS) laser lithotripsy and extracorporeal shock wave (ESWL) for management of patients with upper ureteral calculi up to 2 cm.
Study Design: A prospective randomized comparative study.
Place Duration Study: Tanta Urology Department, University in Tanta, Egypt between October 2018 2021.
Methodology: We included 95 (62 men, 33 women) cm. 48 underwent while 47 lithotripsy. The including operative time, success rate, retreatment auxiliary procedures complication rates was reported.
Results: complete stone free rate 95.8% FURS group 72.3% ESWL 1 month postoperatively (P value = <0.002). As regard (4.2%) (6.4%) secondary 0.677). respective (evaluated using Clavien system) were 5.2% group, 7.3% 0.323).
Conclusion: affords a comparable than seems be promising alternative when higher stones densities are treated. Prospective controlled trials needed confirm these findings.

Outpatient treatment of middle and lower ureteric stones: extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy versus ureteroscopic laser lithotripsy.

The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate the efficacy of ureteroscopic lithotripsy (URSL) and extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) in the treatment of middle and lower ureteric stones. From January 1996 to March 1997, 61 patients treated by URSL and 49 patients treated by ESWL were studied, both were conducted as outpatient procedures. URSL using Holmium laser and semirigid u...

Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) versus ureteroscopic management for ureteric calculi.

BACKGROUND Ureteral stones frequently cause renal colic, and if left untreated, can lead to obstructive uropathy. Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) and ureteroscopy, with or without intracorporeal lithotripsy, are the most common interventions used to treat ureteral stones. ESWL treatment is less invasive than ureteroscopy, but has some limitations such as a high retreatment rate, an...

A meta-analysis of the efficacy of ureteroscopic lithotripsy and extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy on ureteral calculi.

PURPOSE To re-evaluated the clinic efficacy of ureteroscopic lithotripsy (URS) and extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) on ureteral calculi with Cochrane systematic reviews in this paper. METHODS We searched clinical randomized controlled trials and prospective controlled trials in databases such as Cochrane library, Medline, Springer, Elsevier Science Direct, PubMed. Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy and transureteral lithotripsy in the treatment of impacted lower ureteral calculi.

INTRODUCTION We compared the efficacy of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (SWL) with ureteroscopy followed by transureteral lithotripsy (TUL) for the treatment of impacted distal ureteral calculi. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 96 patients with solitary impacted distal ureteral calculi were assigned into 2 groups of treatment with SWL (42 patients) and TUL (54 patients) with a 6.9-F se...

Ureteroscopic pneumatic lithotripsy of impacted ureteral calculi.

INTRODUCTION This work evaluates the results of ureteroscopic treatment of impacted ureteral stones with a pneumatic lithotripter. MATERIALS AND METHODS From March 1997 to May 2002, 42 patients with impacted ureteral stones were treated by retrograde ureteroscopic pneumatic lithotripsy. Twenty-eight patients were female and 14 were male. The stone size ranged from 5 to 20 mm. The ureteral sit...
